Educating the Next Generation of Girls in Afghanistan

After years of oppression, women and girls are finally returning to the classrooms all around Afghanistan. But many still face incredible odds when trying to obtain an education. Armed groups opposed to the education of girls and women continue to attack and intimidate students, trying to dissuade them from pursuing learning.

Teachers like Dr. Sakena Yacoobi have dedicated their careers to fighting back against the extremists who would deny females educations. Instilling girls with knowledge and the confidence to act is Yacoobi’s main goal.

See how she’s helping the youngest generation of Afghan girls reach their potential in this incredible video.

Right now, GreaterGood and the Hunger Site are partnering together to make a big difference in the lives of Afghan girls at the Mirwais Mena School. We are committed to ensuring these girls stay in school and remain safe from extremist attacks. There are two buses available for purchase, and with your help, we can buy them for Mirwais Mena School.
