Mentoring Mothers: Living Positively With HIVPaige Turner
Living with HIV can be challenging anywhere, but it is exceptionally difficult in struggling areas such as Nigeria. Religious and cultural stigmas make it extremely difficult for many patients to live a normal life, leaving them vulnerable and in danger of being abandoned by their communities. Even those who want to help HIV-positive patients are also often ostracized, so help is hard to come by.
Thankfully, a group of brave women are fighting back against traditional mindsets to ensure HIV-positive patients get the help they need! Funded by the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, this health care center provides important services such as AIDS testing and counseling. The women who run the program are truly amazing, and an inspiration to those who want to give back to their communities.
