ʺHe treated me well until I became pregnant.ʺ See How a Microloan Transformed Fatmata’s Life! The Hunger Site
Fatmata thought she had everything figured out when she dropped out of school at 17 to marry. When she became pregnant, however, her husband’s attitude towards her changed drastically. Ashamed of her mistake and desperate for food, Fatmata fled to her in-laws.
While she was there, she learned about the Empowerment and Livelihoods for Adolescents (ELA) program, which taught her financial literacy and gave her a small loan to start her own business.
Now Fatmata is financially independent and providing for both her and her son. Amazing!
